Chongqing plans to renovate about 100 million square meters of old communities in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period

Recently, the General Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government issued the "Implementation Opinions on Comprehensively Promoting the Reconstruction of Old Urban Communities and the Improvement of Community Services", pressing the "fast forward button" of innovative construction for the renovation and upgrading of old urban communities in Chongqing. On August 18, the reporter learned from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development that Chongqing plans to start the reconstruction of 831 old communities this year. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, we will strive to complete the reconstruction of about 100 million square meters of old communities and actively build a "complete community."

According to the relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee, in recent years, Chongqing has insisted on promoting the implementation of the transformation of old urban communities as a major livelihood project and development project. In July 2019, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, and Chongqing Municipal Finance Bureau jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for the Reconstruction and Upgrade of Old Residential Districts in the Main Urban District of Chongqing". In June 2020, with the approval of the municipal government, the Office of the Municipal Urban Improvement Leading Group issued the "Special Action Plan for Chongqing to Comprehensively Promote the Reconstruction of Old Urban Communities and the Improvement of Community Services."

It is reported that as of the end of July, Chongqing has initiated the renovation of 2,413 old communities, involving 568,300 households and 50,416,500 square meters. Among them, 831 old communities are planned to be renovated this year, of which 571 have already started. According to the plan, by 2022, Chongqing will form a more complete institutional framework, policy system and working mechanism for old communities; by 2025, strive to basically complete the transformation of old communities in cities and towns that need to be rebuilt before the end of 2000.
