On July 7, residents of the Changqing Road Power Construction Community, Jianghan District, Wuhan City witnessed a prefabricated elevator being hoisted in one day and pressed the "shortcut" for the community’s elevator installation project.

The power construction community was built in the 1990s, and the buildings are mostly small high-rise houses with 7 to 8 floors. There are many elderly residents in the district, and there is an urgent desire to install elevators. Due to the small distance between buildings, it is difficult to install traditional elevators to meet the fire protection requirements of the community. After many selections, the residents finally decided to install prefabricated elevators.

In the morning of the same day, in the narrow open space outside Unit 1 of Building 41 of the Power Construction Community, a crawler crane extended an arm up to 30 meters to hoist the elevator frame section by section and accurately place it in the designated position. The whole process was like building blocks. As of 8 o'clock in the evening, the hoisting was completed.

"I don’t have to worry about carrying heavy objects upstairs in the future." Aunt Li, who lives on the eighth floor of the unit, said that such a "building block" elevator not only solves the difficulty of climbing stairs, but also has a short installation time, less disturbance to the people, and no peculiar smell in the on-site construction, which is indeed very convenient.

It is understood that this elevator with integrated steel structure is developed and produced by Fujian Kuaike Elevator Company. According to the person in charge of Kuaike Elevator, 95% of the elevator frames and 85% of the elevator installations are made in the factory, and the anti-rust painting is completed. The on-site installation work mainly includes hoisting, as well as the commissioning and trial operation of the whole machine.

"There is no need to set up scaffolding during the installation process, the elevator frames are all locked with screws, no welding is required, pipeline migration during installation is small, and the impact on infrastructure is small." He said that compared with traditional elevators, the "building block" elevator installation process is not only fast, but also safe.

According to reports, after the installation of the elevator is completed, some follow-up construction period will be required, and then it will be handed over to relevant departments for testing, and it can be put into use after reaching the standard. A total of 4 units in the power construction community meet the installation conditions. After the overall completion of the project, it is expected to cover more than 120 residents.
