The industrialization of a new type of construction is the top priority for the development of China's construction industry in the future. The reporter learned that Qingdao began piloting prefabricated buildings in 2013, and successively issued policy documents such as "Opinions on Further Promoting the Development of the Construction Industry" and "Several Policy Measures for Promoting the Development of Prefabricated Buildings in Qingdao." Special awards and subsidies have been set up to support the construction of projects and industrial bases, several local standards, specifications and atlases have been compiled, and more than 26 million square meters of prefabricated buildings have been started. A total of 15 prefabricated building industrialization bases in two batches have been identified, with a total production capacity for 16 million square meters of prefabricated buildings each year. Qingdao has also been awarded as the "Shandong Province Construction Industry Modernization Pilot City" and the first batch of prefabricated building demonstration cities in the country.

The relevant person in charge of the Qingdao Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau said that in the next step, Qingdao will take the opportunity of building a green city pilot and use tools such as green finance to focus on the development of prefabricated buildings. By 2022, prefabricated buildings will account for more than 40% of new buildings, and the assembly rate of single buildings will reach more than 50%. By 2025, further improve the incentive and restrictive policies for the development of prefabricated buildings, the city's prefabricated buildings account for 50% of new buildings, and the single assembly rate of prefabricated buildings will not be less than 50%, and the star-level evaluation of prefabricated buildings will be promoted. By 2035, the proportion will increase to 100%.
