Inner Mongolia promotes the ageing transformation of old communities

In the process of implementing the transformation of old communities in cities and towns, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has vigorously promoted the renovation of aging and the construction of barrier-free facilities. Since 2019, the entire district has completed 5,035 public facilities barrier-free renovation projects in the urban old community renovation project, renovation of 15,966 meters of ramps, renovation of 1,470,092 meters of stair railings, installation of 334 elevators, and 20 new barrier-free toilets .

It is understood that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has issued the "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Comprehensive Promotion of the Implementation Plan for the Reconstruction of Old Urban Communities" that in the process of the transformation of old communities, it is necessary to consider aging-adaptive transformation and the construction of barrier-free facilities as the complete transformation content, and provide a policy basis for the promotion of aging-adaptive transformation and barrier-free facilities construction in old urban communities. At the same time, it is necessary to carry out demonstration and guidance, combined with the renovation of old communities, implement the installation of elevators, retrofit for aging and construction of barrier-free facilities, explore reproducible and extendable experiences and practices, and promote the establishment of long-term working mechanisms. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen technical guidance and organize the compilation of "Technical Guidelines for the Design of Suitable Ageing of Residential Buildings and Facilities" and "Technical Guidelines for the Reconstruction of Old Residential Districts in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. From the technical level, clarify and guide the ageing renovation of old communities in cities and towns and the construction of barrier-free facilities to help the high-quality implementation of the renovation project.
