On May 2nd, at the construction site of the diversion pier of the Lihe Aqueduct of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the large-scale prefabricated diversion pier components produced by China Power Construction (Luoyang) Prefabricated Construction Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed the segmental assembly work. This is the first time that assembled components have been successfully used in the underwater operations of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China, and it is the first time that fully assembled underwater components have been installed under high flow velocity, large water volume, and complex dynamic water conditions. It marks the breakthrough progress made by CLP Construction Luoyang Assembly Company in the field of fabricated underwater components.


All the component mold drawings of the diversion pier are disassembled and designed by the R&D Center of Luoyang Assembly Company of China Power Construction Corporation. The mold production and component production are produced by the mold branch and the component branch respectively. The test center of the Luoyang Assembly Company is responsible for the assembly and trial assembly of the components before leaving the factory and the sealing test of the water-stop strip. The diversion pier is assembled with multi-section and multi-layer technology of fully assembled concrete components, and the external dimensions of the components are very accurate. After the assembly of the 9-layer components is completed, the total height error should be controlled within 5 mm. And the component body is complicated, there are more than ten types of embedded parts for a single component, and the number is as many as thirty.


The Lihe Aqueduct is a large canal crossing structure that crosses the Lihe River in the main canal of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, with a total length of 860 meters. In order to improve the flow pattern of the water delivery of the Lihe Aqueduct Project, it is planned to build a new diversion pier at the entrance and exit of the aqueduct. The pier body is prefabricated in advance and assembled into water after being transported to the site. Whether the installation of the first section of the diversion pier can be successfully completed is related to the construction of the following nine sections. Operators lift the prefabricated blocks to the design position layer by layer through the operating platform formed by the floating box produced by the pre-processing, and assemble it after entering the water in place. During the water-entry assembly process, the buoyancy generated by the cavity structure is used to reduce the weight of the water platform, reduce the installation difficulty, and improve the installation efficiency.

The installation and construction of the prefabricated components of the diversion pier of the aqueduct is the first case in the country. With no previous installation experience to learn from, all the staff were determined to gnaw off this "hard bone". During the "May 1st" period, they gathered their wisdom and efforts to overcome many difficulties step by step. Successfully completed the first section of the lifting and loading water installation task, and handed in a satisfactory answer sheet for all parties.
