Remarkable achievements in the development of the steel structure industry in Zhejiang Province

Since the Zhejiang Provincial Construction Department issued the "Three-year Action Plan for the Development of Steel Structure Industry in Zhejiang Province (2018-2020)" and the "Zhejiang Province Promoting the Pilot Program of Steel Structure Prefabricated Housing", the Provincial Steel Structure Industry Association invited experts to interpret and explain the provisions of the three-year action plan. Combining the process of visiting steel structure enterprises, finding out the actual situation of relevant enterprises, customizing a set of practical implementation measures, and decomposing the target tasks in the three-year action plan into various steel structure enterprises. The province's steel structure enterprises burst out their determination and enthusiasm to accelerate the development of the industry, speed up their own transformation and upgrading and technological innovation, and the development of the steel structure industry in Zhejiang Province has achieved remarkable results.

The output value of steel structure in Zhejiang Province has jumped to a new level and continues to maintain its leading position in China. In 2018, the total output value of steel structure in Zhejiang Province reached 62.6 billion yuan. In 2019, the total output value of steel structure was 70 billion yuan, an increase of 11.8%. According to incomplete statistics in 2020, the total output value of steel structure in Zhejiang Province will reach more than 80 billion yuan, an increase of 14.3%, accounting for 10.2% of the total output value of steel structure in the country, and the total amount of steel is 7.89 million tons. Among them, the output value of general contracting of construction projects, mainly steel structure projects, was 12.7 billion yuan, and the value of newly signed general engineering contracting reached 44.2 billion yuan, an increase of more than 15% over 2019.

Steel structure fabricated buildings have developed rapidly and have become the main force in green ecological construction. By the end of 2020, the completed steel structure prefabricated building area will reach 25.014 million square meters, an increase of about 25% over 2019; the completed steel structure prefabricated residential area will reach 2.513 million square meters.

The quality of steel structure construction has been greatly improved, and it has become the golden name card of Zhejiang Province's construction brand. Zhejiang steel structure enterprises have undertaken many masterpieces of steel structure construction and many major landmark construction projects at home and abroad, which is a golden business card of Zhejiang steel structure enterprises. According to statistics, from 2018 to 2019, Zhejiang steel structure enterprises created 2 "China Steel Structure Gold Awards for Annual Outstanding Engineering Award" and 83 "China Steel Structure Gold Awards". In 2021, the Hangzhou Asian Games "Lianhua" Stadium project, which was general contracted by Zhongtian Group and specialized in steel structure construction by Zhejiang Southeast Grid Co., Ltd., won the national "Luban Award". From 2018 to 2020, 21 engineering projects participated in by member units won the national "Luban Award". The new landmark building "Hangzhou Gate" undertaken by Hangxiao Co., Ltd. was also praised unanimously.

The technological innovation capability of steel structure enterprises has been further enhanced, which has promoted the rapid transformation of building construction to building smart manufacturing. Intelligent manufacturing is advancing by leaps and bounds. Steel structure enterprises have established more than 50 national, provincial and municipal technical centers, and 50% of first-level enterprises have established R&D centers. There are 5 national-level enterprise technology centers, more than 180 new intelligent manufacturing production lines in the production workshop, and more than 20 new manufacturing production lines using robots. In 2019, the team of general manager Xu Guojun, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Jinggong Steel Structure Group, and Professor Tong Genshu from Zhejiang University won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for the project "Theory, Technology and Engineering Application of High-Rise Steel-Concrete Hybrid Structures". In 2018, Professor Luo Yaozhi, Dean and Professor of Zhejiang University, won the “First Prize of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award” for the “Key Technologies and Engineering Application of Space Steel Structure Testing and Testing” project.

Steel structure enterprises are accelerating their transformation and upgrading, and domestic advanced steel structure enterprise clusters and industry advantages are further highlighted. Through the integration of enterprise production factors, resource allocation, enterprise transformation and upgrading, and technological progress, more than 10 steel structure enterprises have become general contractors of construction projects with first-class construction capabilities, strong financial strength, leading intelligent manufacturing and a gathering of innovative talents. Nearly 20 steel structure companies have become growing steel structure construction builders with strong professional construction, sophisticated manufacturing technology, and rapid market adaptation.

The influence of the steel structure industry continues to expand, and the reputation of the industry and social recognition are further enhanced. In 2019 and 2020, the leaders of the Policy Research Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the China Steel Association and the China Construction Finance Association visited Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province and other places to investigate the development and construction of steel structure prefabricated houses. The brother associations of various provinces, cities and autonomous regions also came to Zhejiang Province to learn from their experience. The technology development and engineering application of steel structure prefabricated residential buildings in Zhejiang Province were highly praised by the competent government departments and the brother associations. At the end of 2019, the Zhejiang Steel Structure Industry Alliance was established as a platform to open up the upstream and downstream industrial chain of steel structures and promote the development of construction industrialization. Form a fully functional steel structure construction industry chain and industrial clusters based on domestic and radiating internationally, and have a wide range of influence in the steel structure construction market at home and abroad.
