Southeast Grid won the bid of 4.124 billion yuan general contracting project, the leading development of steel structure entered a new era

On the evening of March 31, Southeast Grid issued an announcement of winning the bid. As the leader of the consortium, the consortium composed of East China Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Chaofeng Steel Structure Group Co., Ltd. is the winning bidder of the EPC contract for the second phase of the Hangzhou International Expo Center project. The winning bid amount is 4.124 billion yuan, accounting for 44.55% of the audited operating income in 2020.   

According to the announcement, the project is located in the core area of Hangzhou Qianjiang Century City Olympic Sports Expo City. It is adjacent to the Hangzhou International Expo Center, the main venue of the G20 summit in the south, and the Qianjiang River to the west. It has an important project location. Taking advantage of the unprecedented opportunities of "post-summary and pre-Asian Games", the second phase of the expansion of Hangzhou International Expo Center will promote a new model of "conference and exhibition industrial park" with convention and exhibition as the core and the development of related industries, reflecting the regional integration strategy of the Yangtze River Delta and the new concept of Hangzhou Riverside development.

The total construction area of the project is about 454,200 square meters. The above-ground buildings include the convention and exhibition center, museum, and office tower (T2). The building height is 160 meters, with 3 floors underground and 29 floors above ground. It is worth noting that the main structure of the project adopts steel structure, and the steel structure has a maximum single span of 84 meters. Southeast Grid is well-known in the industry for its large-span space steel structure, and participated in the construction of the National Aquatics Center "Water Cube", Beijing Capital Airport T3A terminal, Yunqi Town International Convention and Exhibition Center and many other landmark projects. It enjoys a high reputation in the country and has created a good high-end brand image.

According to the company, this project is a "sister chapter" of the G20 International Expo Center. It is a building that integrates conferences and exhibitions, commerce, business, hotels and museums. It has both large-span structures and super high-rise structures. At the same time, it is also the largest EPC general contracting project undertaken by the company so far, fully demonstrating the company's ability to undertake large-scale general contracting projects with strong comprehensiveness and high construction requirements.   

Professionals pointed out that steel structure is in line with the general trend of green building development. Under the background of continuous vigorous promotion of current policies and the continuous reduction of the cost gap with traditional structures, the demand for steel structures is expected to grow rapidly, and the industry has entered a golden period of development. In addition, the policy clearly encourages steel structure construction to adopt the engineering general contracting (EPC) model, and steel structure leaders with outstanding comprehensive capabilities in design, manufacturing, and construction will benefit collectively, market share will accelerate, and profit collection will continue to improve.   

Southeast Grid invested 600 million yuan last year to build a new prefabricated steel structure digital factory with an annual output of 200,000 tons. With the completion of the new capacity and put into use, the company's steel structure production capacity will increase by 40%, and it will continue to expand the advantages of the main steel structure business. The project that won the bid this time is also an important platform for the company to further implement the strategic deployment of the Yangtze River Delta integrated development and the integrated development of Hangzhou, Shaoxing and Ningbo.
