In the past five years, Zhejiang Province has adhered to the goal of "building a strong province" and vigorously promoted the transformation and development of the construction industry. The total output value of the construction industry has always been in the forefront of the country. The province's construction industry completed an output value of 14.3 trillion yuan, accounting for more than 10% of the total output value of the national construction industry. The industrialization of construction has accelerated, and a total of 263 million square meters of prefabricated buildings have been started. The ability to innovate in science and technology has been effectively improved. A total of 41 provincial-level enterprise technology centers have been added, absorbing 8 million jobs each year.

The construction industry is one of the important pillar industries of the national economy. Promoting the industrialization, digitalization, and intelligent upgrading of construction, and accelerating the transformation of construction methods are important measures to cultivate new growth points of the national economy, and realize the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry and sustainable and healthy development. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the total output value of the construction industry in Zhejiang Province has always been among the top in the country, and the added value of the construction industry has remained above 5.5% of the province's GDP, reaching a historical high of 6.1% in 2019. It is expected to reach around 5.7% in 2020. The construction industry's tax revenue increased from 44.3 billion yuan in 2015 to 67.05 billion yuan in November 2020.

In the past five years, Zhejiang Province has actively responded to the promotion of the industrialization of new types of buildings, bravely being the vanguard of the "green revolution", and has been striding forward in the direction of industrialization, informatization, intensive and industrialization. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the province has started a total of 263 million square meters of prefabricated buildings, completing 210% of the target task (125 million square meters). Among them, from January to November 2020, 88.38 million square meters of prefabricated buildings have been newly started, 126% of the target tasks have been completed, and the proportion of prefabricated buildings in new buildings has reached 30.05%, achieving the goal set by the state five years in advance. A total of 5.28 million square meters of steel structure prefabricated residential buildings were built, 107% of the target task was completed; both the prefabricated buildings and steel structure residential buildings have completed their tasks one month ahead of schedule.
