Baoye released the "Sponge City Construction Guide" to create a new standard for green buildings in the Yangtze River Delta

On December 23, Baoye Group and Shanghai Academy of Building Research jointly issued the "Guide for the Construction of Baoye Sponge City". This guide focuses on the latest regional policy standards and industry trends, and builds a sponge city from the early stage target analysis, special design, to the later construction acceptance, operation and maintenance of the entire process technology system, clarifying the work content, key technical requirements and methods of each link. It also provides common sponge technology practices, examples of sponge cities, a list of related product suppliers, and sponge city cases, which provide important technical support for high-quality green and energy-saving buildings in the Yangtze River Delta.

The 2013 Central Urbanization Work Conference proposed for the first time the construction of a "sponge city" with natural accumulation, natural penetration, and natural purification. Sponge city refers to making the city like a sponge, with good "flexibility" in adapting to environmental changes and responding to natural disasters. When it rains, it absorbs, stores, seeps, and purifies water. When necessary, "release" and use the stored water is of great significance to alleviating urban waterlogging, reducing urban runoff pollution, saving water resources, and protecting and improving the urban ecological environment.

In the construction of the "Baoye Vigor World" project in Shanghai Hongqiao Business District, Baoye Group has fully adopted sponge technology, such as green roof, permeable pavement, recessed green space, pipeline storage, ecological revetment and other innovative designs and product applications.

According to reports, Shanghai has become a national sponge city construction pilot city since 2016, and all districts have completed the preparation of special plans for sponge city construction. In the future, sponge city construction content and related index requirements will be fully incorporated into land transfer and development, and the construction project plan and construction drawing design must include a special chapter on sponge design.

As a pilot project for Shanghai Sponge City Key Functional Construction Zone, the "Hongqiao Main City Area Sponge City Construction Plan (2020-2035)" led by the Hongqiao Business District Management Committee was released in July this year. The plan puts forward the overall concept of "connecting the Yangtze River Delta, the most ecological center", and creating a "customized version" of the sponge city construction in the business district of "China's Eco-economic Capital of Common Prosperity". And based on the five elements of smart water affairs, harmony and inclusiveness, people's acquisition, adaptive city, and value-evaluable, a new type of sponge city construction best practice area will be created. It is expected that by the end of the planning period, the main city area of the Hongqiao Business District will fully realize the overall target requirements of sponge city construction of "no water accumulation in rain once in 5 years, no waterlogging in rain once in 100 years, no black and smelly water body, and alleviation of heat islands". By 2035, within the main city area of the Hongqiao Business District, we will fully implement the pilot construction goals of water ecology, water environment, water resources, and water safety, including drainage standards, waterlogging prevention standards and other indicators.
