More than 60% of CBD office buildings in Beijing were rated as green buildings

On November 20th, 14 projects in Beijing, including the reconstruction project of Shougang's desulfurization workshop, obtained the highest-level platinum certification of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) issued by the US Green Building Council. The reporter was informed that more than 60% of the office buildings in Beijing CBD have obtained LEED green building certification, making it one of the CBDs with the highest degree of greenness in office buildings in the world.

According to statistics, building construction and operation account for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions, which has huge potential for carbon reduction. Today, more and more office buildings have begun to upgrade the high-energy-consuming air-conditioning, electrical and other equipment to further reduce building energy consumption. As one of the most influential green building evaluation standards in the world, LEED has been applied to more than 100,000 commercial projects in 181 countries and regions. Data show that as of October 31, China has nearly 6000 LEED participating projects.

Yesterday, 14 projects including Jintang Xilian Building, Beijing Gaokeling and China Baowu Building received the highest level of LEED platinum certification.

Currently, Beijing CBD has a total of 25 Grade A office buildings, of which 16 office buildings have obtained LEED certification, accounting for 64%. The ultra-high LEED penetration rate makes Beijing CBD one of the CBDs with the highest degree of “greening” in office buildings in the world.
