By 2025, prefabricated buildings in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province will account for more than 50% of the newly built building area

A few days ago, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development officially announced the second batch of national prefabricated building model cities, and Taizhou City is on the list.

In recent years, the newly-started prefabricated building area in Taizhou City has continued to increase, reaching 8.0297 million square meters in 2019. At the same time, the number of enterprises with relevant qualifications has steadily increased, and the construction of bases has been accelerated. Currently, Taizhou has built 6 construction industrialized production bases, and 4 more are under construction. It is estimated that by the end of 2020, the designed production capacity of the Taizhou Construction Industrialization Base will reach 1 million cubic meters per year, and the actual production capacity will exceed 600,000 cubic meters per year. Based on market demand and the support of production enterprises, the scale of steel structure building area in Taizhou has also shown a good momentum of rapid growth. In recent years, the proportion of steel structure building area newly started has been increasing. The city currently has 3 large-scale steel structure bases and 60 small and medium-sized steel structure manufacturers, with a steel structure design capacity of 500,000 tons per year.

"Prefabricated building is a major change in construction methods. One of its notable features is that it can speed up the construction progress, shorten the construction period, and improve production efficiency." said a person in charge of the Taizhou Construction Bureau. The assembly construction site can realize no scaffolding, no template, etc. Coupled with the application of new technologies such as concrete counter-strike technology, sandwich insulation board, and continuous optimization of the construction site procedures of prefabricated buildings, a large number of on-site construction operations have been moved to the factory assembly line for completion. Now it is no longer a dream to build a house like a car. Projects such as the Taizhou Bay Cultural Tourism Complex are built in this way.

According to the implementation opinions and relevant plans of the Taizhou Municipal Government, by 2025, new projects on newly transferred or allocated land in Taizhou will promote prefabricated buildings and realize that prefabricated buildings account for more than 50% of the newly built building area. Promote the formation of a batch of large-scale enterprises for design, construction, parts and components production, general contracting enterprises with modern assembly and construction levels, and professional skilled teams that are compatible with them.
