At present, Guangzhou has formed a good development pattern of "8 national demonstration bases + 10 provincial demonstration projects + 23 provincial demonstration bases".

Combined with the climatic characteristics of Guangzhou area, Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-rural Development has carried out research on the application of key technologies such as natural ventilation, natural lighting, pattern noise reduction, intelligent control, and indoor air quality regulation. Lingnan's climate and cultural characteristics, green ecological needs, and ultra-low energy consumption buildings, how to meet the green and low carbon in the actual construction process, without losing the "flavor" of Lingnan? Kang Lin concluded that in terms of design, Guangzhou refined the traditional Lingnan architectural climate adaptability design techniques, and integrated traditional open halls, patios, cold alleys and courtyards into modern buildings. This integrates the traditional wisdom of Lingnan gardens in topographical environment shaping, spatial layout, ventilation, and water management into construction practice, and continuously promotes the integration and development of Lingnan culture and green buildings.

Kang Lin said that Guangzhou is building a technical system for the green transformation of existing buildings. By analyzing the energy consumption data of existing buildings in the city, conducting energy-saving potential analysis on buildings with high energy consumption, and continuously strengthening the planning and management of green ecological city construction. "Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the city has implemented a total of more than 3.35 million square meters of green energy-saving renovation projects for existing buildings such as the White Swan Hotel, Guangdong Building, and Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau Power Supply Building."
