The first prefabricated school in Suzhou was hoisted in Kunshan City

Kindergarten children can freely combine various building blocks to build small houses with peculiar shapes. Now, construction workers also build schools with Lego blocks. The reporter was informed that the first prefabricated school in Suzhou, the Kunshan Micro (laughter) school project, completed the hoisting operation on June 15 and is expected to open in September this year.

As one of the key practical projects in Suzhou this year, the Kunshan Micro (Smile) School Project utilizes the sporadic idle land in the old city, relies on the advantages of prefabricated buildings, trades space for time, and quickly completes the construction of educational infrastructure, which will effectively relieve the pressure on degrees in the old city. It is reported that the project is located on the north side of Tongfeng West Road and on the east side of Xiuyi Road, with a total investment of about 120 million yuan and a total construction area of about 17,000 square meters, including primary school teaching buildings, kindergarten teaching buildings, and primary school office buildings. The primary school has 24 teaching classes, and the kindergarten has 12 teaching classes. After completion, it will be used as a transitional school for Bailu Experimental Primary School and government kindergarten.

On the morning of June 14, the reporter came to the site of the Kunshan micro-school project and saw that the prefabricated school had begun to take shape. The structural hoisting of the nearly 12-meter-high kindergarten area on the west side had been completed, and the primary school area on the east side was being hoisted. The dark gray integrated modules are neatly stacked on the construction site, like large Lego components. The construction personnel lift these integrated modules to the designated positions one by one with the help of lifting equipment, and then combine, connect and install them, and assemble them like Lego blocks. The reporter noticed that these integrated modules include the ground, walls, indoor pipelines, pipe networks, etc., and each integrated module has a thermal insulation layer, which is very energy-saving and environmentally friendly.

"The Kunshan Micro (Laughter) School project is a 100% prefabricated steel structure building, which has the advantages of a short construction period, strong earthquake resistance, safety and environmental protection, and a service life of up to 50 years." Liu Bo, the project leader of Kunshan Urban Rail Transit Development Co., Ltd. and Kunshan Micro (Laughter) School, said that the project adopts the mature steel structure prefabricated building system technology, and transfers the on-site work in the traditional construction method to the factory. It realized "producing residential parts like a car, and building a house like building blocks", turning the production site into a final assembly workshop.

It is reported that the main works of the Kunshan Micro (Laughter) School project are all hoisted by prefabricated integrated modules. It is an innovative exploration to effectively alleviate the current situation of the large demand for schooling and the shortage of educational resources and land resources in the old city of Suzhou, and it is also a beneficial attempt to build a new model and new technology for schools. The classroom of this project is spliced by 3 integrated modules weighing 12-20 tons. The connecting parts are connected by bolts without using glue, and the anti-slip effect is good. The construction unit completed all the hoisting and splicing operations of 124 boxes in the kindergarten and 180 boxes in the primary school in only one month.

"Compared with traditional concrete construction, prefabricated buildings greatly reduce construction waste, noise, dust and other pollution during construction. No glue or paint is used, which is very safe and environmentally friendly." Liu Bo said that other main materials of the project are also environmentally friendly and basically recyclable. At present, the project is undergoing interior decoration and municipal engineering construction, of which 60% of the municipal engineering has been completed. It is expected that the hardening project will be completed on the 20th of this month, and the acceptance will be delivered in the middle and late July.
