Xiong'an City, Hebei Province has built a batch of prefabricated livable demonstration villages, with 5 pilots in each county!

Prefabricated structure, light steel structure, passive building, ultra-low energy consumption, green building... Do these words sound particularly tall? Have you ever thought that such a new type of livable housing is a rural demonstration housing that will appear in 5 pilot villages in each county in Xiong'an New District, Hebei.

A few days ago, the Hebei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the "Work Plan for Further Development of Rural Housing Construction Pilots and Demonstrations". It proposes that on the basis of the existing 344 rural housing construction pilot villages in 28 pilot counties (cities, districts), each other county (cities, districts) will determine 5 pilot villages to carry out pilot demonstrations, including the Xiongan New Area.

Rural housing construction in pilot villages should adopt appropriate new structural systems, green and environmentally friendly construction methods and building energy-saving technologies. The newly built and renovated rural housing should meet the requirements of earthquake-resistant fortification and building energy-saving, and have local architectural characteristics.

It is expected that by the end of September 2022, cities and Xiongan New Area will guide relevant counties (cities, districts) to build a batch of livable demonstration rural houses with modern functions, local style, cost economy, structural safety, and green environmental protection, and play a leading role in demonstration. 

All localities should guide counties (cities, districts) to organize the compilation of technical documents such as general atlases for local rural housing construction, large-scale construction drawings and other technical documents in light of local conditions, and provide free rural housing design schemes below the designated size for housing builders. Vigorously apply green energy-saving technologies, and encourage places where conditions permit to adopt rural low-energy-consumption residential building design standards and passive ultra-low-energy-consumption residential building energy-saving standards.

In the pilot demonstration construction of rural housing, new structural systems such as prefabricated light steel structures and green and environmentally friendly construction methods should be actively adopted. Strictly implement the "Technical Standards for Seismic Design, Appraisal and Reinforcement of Rural Houses in High Intensity Areas" and related technical requirements for seismic fortification to ensure the quality and safety of rural housing construction and reduce building energy consumption.

All localities should strengthen policy coordination, actively connect with relevant departments, and actively seek relevant funds in combination with local beautiful village construction and rural living environment improvement, and increase support for pilot and demonstration work.
