30 million square meters! The total construction scale of prefabricated buildings in Shenzhen ranks among the top in China

As of the first half of this year, Shenzhen’s newly-started prefabricated construction area was 5.73 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of nearly 100%, accounting for 30.7% of the total construction area of newly-started projects, and the total prefabricated construction scale reached 30 million square meters, ranking first in China. This is what the reporter learned at the 3rd International (Shenzhen) Summit Forum and Boutique Exhibition on the Industrialization of New Type Buildings held on September 17.

The theme of the forum is "the era of advancement, the pre-built new decade". Under the guidance of the Science and Technology and Industrialization Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department of Guangdong Province, the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the Shenzhen Urban Construction Industry Joint Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Technology Innovation Alliance of the Prefabricated Construction Industry, sponsored by the Shenzhen Construction Industrialization Association. More than 50 expert keynote speeches were carried out in various forms including boutique exhibitions, projects and factory tours, and lasted for three days.

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, in conjunction with 13 ministries and nine departments, successively issued "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Coordinated Development of Intelligent Construction and Building Industrialization", "Several Opinions on Accelerating the Industrialization of New Buildings" and other important documents to guide the industrialization of new types of buildings and drive the overall transformation and upgrading of the construction industry.

At the forum, Wen Linfeng, deputy director of the Science and Technology and Industrialization Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, analyzed and pointed out that the development of new building industrialization is the main measure for green development and low-carbon recycling in the field of urban and rural construction. It is not only an important means for stabilizing growth, promoting reform, and adjusting structure, but also an inherent requirement for creating a "dual engine" for economic development. It is of great and far-reaching significance in comprehensively advancing the construction of ecological civilization and accelerating the process of new urbanization.

It is understood that Shenzhen has explored and practiced the industrialization of a new type of building represented by prefabricated buildings, with a total construction scale of 30 million square meters. The proportion of newly started prefabricated buildings in the first half of this year has reached 30.7%, completing the national target task ahead of schedule; Created a batch of "Luban Award" and national standard 3A-level boutique projects such as the Shenzhen campus of Harbin Institute of Technology and Hanjing Center; 35 national, provincial and municipal industrial bases were incubated and cultivated; Created the country’s first prefabricated building professional technical title, etc., and has initially formed a prefabricated building development path with Shenzhen characteristics of "policy leadership, market operation, enterprise action, and association assistance". At the same time, Shenzhen continues to export replicable and extendable experience models to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and even the whole country.
