Suzhou, Jiangsu: Promoting prefabricated buildings from "passive advancement" to "active action"

On December 2, the Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province issued the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the High-Quality Development of the Construction Industry in Suzhou", which proposed to accelerate the industrialization of a new type of building represented by prefabricated buildings: By the end of 2025, the city's newly started prefabricated building area will account for more than 50% of the newly started building area in the same period, the prefabricated decoration will account for 30% of finished housing, and the BIM application rate of large and medium-sized projects will reach 70%.

According to the "Plan", during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the area of newly-started prefabricated buildings in Suzhou has accounted for more than 35% of the city's newly-started construction area, exceeding the planned target. More than 40 production bases of various prefabricated components and parts have been built and put into production, and a prefabricated building industry cluster has taken shape.

Regarding the key tasks during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the "Planning" proposed that the implementation of the "two-carbon" strategy should be taken as the guidance, and we should pay close attention to prefabricated construction, intelligent construction, green construction, lean construction and assembly decoration. Adapt to the development needs of the new era with new construction methods.

In the promotion of prefabricated buildings, vigorously develop prefabricated reinforced concrete buildings, and actively promote prefabricated steel structure buildings and wood structure buildings. Lead key enterprises to increase investment in technology and R&D, and innovate prefabricated building structure systems. Gradually turn the prefabricated building technology system into a situation that can be popularized, easy to assemble, high-quality, low-cost, and diversified, and promote prefabricated buildings from passive advancement to active action. Continue to expand the prefabricated construction coverage of government-invested public buildings and real estate development projects.

In the promotion of assembly decoration, they actively promoted real estate projects and government-invested public rental housing to deliver finished housing. Vigorously promote the construction of finished housing, promote the application of integrated kitchen and bathroom products, equipment and pipelines, and improve the level of assembly. Encourage the assembly and decoration production base to settle in Suzhou. By the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", assembly and decoration will be fully promoted in residential buildings to realize the advantages of integrated design with housing construction, factory production, modular installation, and digital management, leading the direction of decoration.
