After the project is completed and put into production, it will effectively fill the gap in Sanya's lack of prefabricated building material production bases, fill up the industrial shortcomings in the southern region of Hainan Province, promote the modernization of the construction industry in Sanya City, and promote the high-quality and high-standard construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.



According to the relevant person in charge of the Hainan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, compared with traditional construction methods, prefabricated buildings can shorten the construction period, reduce labor dependence, reduce construction dust and noise pollution, and reduce construction waste and sewage discharge. The promotion of prefabricated buildings meets the requirements of Hainan's green and high-quality development, and also helps to promote the transformation and upgrading of the traditional construction industry. In 2017, Hainan began to promote the prefabricated construction model from government-invested schools, hospitals and other public construction projects, and gradually extended it to projects such as commercial housing, office and commercial buildings, and public transportation sites.


"Compared with traditional buildings, prefabricated buildings have incomparable advantages in terms of building quality, construction period, energy conservation and environmental protection." Feng Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the Hainan Branch of China Construction Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd., said that the 1.5-level enterprise port project in Jiangdong New District that they undertook adopts a "steel structure + modular" prefabricated building form. The largest module is 17 meters long and weighs about 25 tons, and the smallest module is about 10 meters long and weighs about 7 tons. It integrates structure, pipelines, and decorations to give full play to the advantages of prefabricated buildings.



"If traditional concrete construction is used, it will take at least 15 months and about 450 days." Feng Jian introduced that the 23,000-square-meter building they took on was constructed with 297 modular boxes and 800 tons of steel structure components, and within 20 days, the main body of three 7966-square-meter steel structure buildings was capped. The hoisting of 297 modular units was completed in 8 days, the curtain wall, electromechanical and decoration construction of 7 buildings of 23,000 square meters were completed in 30 days, and all the projects were completed in 72 days. It is 6 times faster than traditional construction, which not only avoids pollution on the construction site, but also saves manpower, improves production efficiency, and realizes "building a house like a car."


It is understood that due to the late start of the prefabricated construction market in Hainan Province, how to reduce costs is the key. In the past three years, Hainan Province has continued to adopt policy guidance, starting from government-invested public construction projects, actively promoting prefabricated buildings, and introducing prefabricated component manufacturers to settle down. Some cities and counties have also accelerated the rapid development of the prefabricated construction market through supporting measures such as tax reduction and exemption and optimization of bidding and tendering. Many construction companies and developers have also found that labor costs in the construction industry are gradually increasing, and the government's calls for promoting green buildings are increasing, and the advantages of prefabricated building construction are gradually emerging.



According to statistics, the area of prefabricated buildings in Hainan has doubled for three consecutive years. As of 2020, the area of prefabricated buildings in the province has reached 11 million square meters. It is expected that the prefabricated building area will reach 17 million square meters this year.


The industry believes that with the introduction of environmental protection policies such as energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development in urban construction, prefabricated buildings are becoming the development trend of the construction industry in Hainan, and they are gradually taking advantage of its technological innovation, safe sharing, green sustainability, high quality and high efficiency. Compared with traditional construction methods, assembly-type buildings produce parts in factories that are not affected by the natural environment such as severe weather, and the construction period is more controllable. Industrialization is less or even not dependent on human factors, effectively avoiding the common problems of traditional buildings such as water leakage and horizontal deviation, making "garden-style" construction sites a reality and no longer a dream.
