The total area of green buildings in Shanghai reaches 213 million square meters, the number of sign projects increases

From August 26 to August 27, 2020, the 16th "International Green Building and Building Energy Conservation Conference and New Technology and Product Expo" was held in Suzhou Jinji Lake International Expo Center. With the theme of "Upgrading Housing Consumption-Healthy and Green Buildings", this conference invited more than 3,000 well-known scholars and experts in the field of green building at home and abroad to discuss industry development trends and policy standards.

At the meeting, Shanghai City was specially invited by the organizing committee to attend the meeting and shared Shanghai’s policies, measures, achievements, experience and development ideas in recent years to "lead with green development and continue to promote the high-quality development of the construction industry".

According to reports, as of July this year, the total area of green buildings in Shanghai reached 213 million square meters. In recent years, the number of marked projects has gradually increased. At present, 773 projects have obtained green building evaluation marks, with a total construction area of 66.8 million square meters, and more than 80% of the two-star level.

Shanghai City is the origin of our country's green building development. In 2004, China's first green demonstration building (Shanghai Ecological Office Demonstration Building) was completed, ushering in a new era of green building development in Shanghai.

Since 2014, all newly-built civil buildings in Shanghai have fully implemented the green building standards. State office buildings and large public buildings have been constructed in accordance with green building two-star and above standards, and related requirements have been incorporated into the construction management process, and the design and review of green buildings have been improved. The series of standards and specifications for drawings and acceptance checks strictly control the requirements of green buildings in the stages of land supply and drawing approval.

In terms of building energy efficiency, Shanghai’s total energy-saving building area is 630 million square meters, and the proportion of building energy-saving standards implemented during the design and completion acceptance phases is 100%. In recent years, Shanghai has continuously and comprehensively promoted the energy-saving renovation of existing public buildings, and completed the energy-saving renovation target of no less than 10 million square meters of existing public buildings during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. And built an energy consumption monitoring system that basically covers the city's state office buildings and large public buildings.

As of the end of 2019, the system covered 1,780 buildings, covering an area of 82 million square meters, and became the building energy monitoring system with the largest number of public buildings, the largest building area, and stable operation in the country.

As for prefabricated buildings, Shanghai has successively issued a series of policy documents, clarifying new public, residential, and industrial construction projects with a total construction area of more than 10,000 square meters. All monomers should implement prefabricated buildings, and the prefabrication rate of building monomers is not less than 40% or the assembly rate of monomers is not less than 60%, and corresponding incentive policies and closed-loop supervision mechanisms have been established.

Shanghai was awarded the first batch of national prefabricated building demonstration cities in 2017. As of July this year, Shanghai’s land transfer phase has accumulatively implemented prefabricated buildings over 120 million square meters. The number of prefabricated component manufacturers and their production capacity have increased year by year. The number of prefabricated component manufacturers registered in Shanghai has reached 121, with an actual production capacity of approximately 4.5 million cubic meters.
