First in China! C130 concrete was successfully pumped in Guangzhou's super high-rise buildings

In recent years, with more and more super high-rise buildings, super high-strength concrete has attracted great attention from the construction industry because of its small size, high strength, resource saving, and improved work efficiency. The industry attaches great importance to the development and pumping of ultra-high-strength concrete, and the New World Zengcheng Comprehensive Development Center project is one of them.


On September 30, the New World Zengcheng Project of China Construction Eighth Engineering Co., Ltd., jointly developed C130 concrete (with a strength of 149.5MPa) in cooperation with South China University of Technology, a design office, a mixing plant and other units. It was used in an engineering entity for the first time, pumping more than 220 meters, setting a precedent in Guangzhou and even the whole country.

The New World Zengcheng Comprehensive Development Center project is located in Zengcheng, Guangzhou. After completion, it will attract large enterprises to settle in, build a high-end talent center in eastern Guangzhou, and help Zengcheng to implement the strategy of “strong talent area, innovative development”.


As a super high-rise building, the highest building area of the New World Zengcheng Comprehensive Development Center project has reached 241 meters, and the research on super high-strength concrete is attached great importance. Before pumping C130 concrete, the project has successfully pumped C80 concrete after hundreds of mixing tests. The pumping height exceeded 130 meters, the strength reached 100MPa, and the cumulative pouring reached 11,000 cubic meters, which greatly assisted the project construction, enhanced the building strength, reduced the occupied area, and increased the building use area.

Encouraged by the success of C80 pumping, in December 2020, the project took the lead in establishing a C130 technology research and development team, with members covering South China University of Technology, owners, and design offices to jointly carry out C130 concrete research. Since the design strength of C130 is 149.5MPa, which is 62.5% higher than C80 concrete, the difficulty of R&D and pumping is greatly increased. After ten months of continuous joint research, the C130 technology research and development team finally tried out C130 concrete, which was successfully pumped and applied to the construction of super high-rise projects on September 30.


The pouring of this time is the last frame beam of the main body of the project, marking the completion of the project and an important breakthrough in the application of C130 ultra-high-strength concrete in physical engineering.
