Sustainable development is one of Beijing's consistent concepts from the bid to host the Winter Olympics to the preparation of the Winter Olympics. As one of the few newly-built venues for the Winter Olympics, the Winter Olympics Ice Hockey Training Center - Wukesong Ice Sports Center (Ice Linghua) is fulfilling this concept from design to construction.
The "Ice Linghua" hall is equipped with two sizes of convertible ice rinks of 60 × 30 meters and 60 × 26 meters. The carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling ice-making technology is used to make ice, which not only saves energy, but also does not cause damage to the environment.
Compared with the traditional ice-making method, the carbon dioxide direct-cooling ice-making system has excellent cooling performance. The carbon dioxide is directly transferred to the field cooling coil for heat exchange, with good heat transfer performance and higher heat exchange efficiency of the entire ice-making system. Carbon dioxide refrigeration can ensure a constant ice surface temperature, better ice surface quality, and can save about 40% energy compared with traditional ice-making technology.
Talking about the concept of ultra-low energy consumption, Wang Dawei, chief architect of Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute, said: "In China, in fact, ultra-low energy consumption has already begun, but many of them are done in small projects or pilot projects, and there are still relatively few large-scale public buildings that do ultra-low energy consumption."
Wang Dawei introduced that in addition to being dazzling and cool in appearance, "Ice Linghua" integrates the theory and technology of ultra-low energy consumption into the process of design and construction, which is more conducive to the use of venues after the Winter Olympics. For example, the ice-making system of the stadium generally loses residual heat and cold energy. Under the design concept of ultra-low energy consumption, such residual heat and cold energy can be absorbed and reused.
"In layman's terms, it is to put a cotton jacket on the building first, and then add an air conditioner to it at the same time, which is equivalent to adding a higher precision and adjustable air conditioner. This solves a problem of ultra-low energy consumption, and then minimizes the loss of energy as much as possible. "Wang Dawei said.
Wang Dawei said that the area where "Ice Linghua" is located is the Wukesong Sports Culture Park, which involves some commercial layouts and some urban public spaces. "Considering the use after the game, we have a concept in the design process that the more flexible the space, the better. In the future, it can be flexibly divided according to different business requirements." Wang Dawei said.
